Pet ceremonies
For the ones who loved us unconditionally

Our pets are family.
They walk beside us through life’s hardest and happiest moments with loyalty, love, and no judgement.
When it’s time to say goodbye, or celebrate their place in our world, they deserve more than a passing thought.
At Smartly Said, I create heartfelt, personal pet ceremonies across Dorset and Cornwall most often for pet funerals, but also for joyful celebrations like pet weddings or welcome days.
Every ceremony is crafted with love, respect, and understanding because I know, first-hand, how much they mean.

Honouring the life of your beloved companion
Saying goodbye to a beloved pet can be one of life’s most quietly devastating moments. Whether your companion was with you for years, or their life was heartbreakingly short, you may feel a need to mark that loss in a way that feels meaningful, not just for you, but for your whole household.

I can help you create a personal, gentle ceremony that offers:

-
A chance to reflect on your pet’s life and what they brought to yours
-
Words of remembrance, funny, moving, and honest
-
A ritual moment, scattering ashes, planting something, or simply being still together
-
A way to help children or family members process the goodbye
-
A beautiful goodbye for the pet who meant everything
Whether you’d like me to write and lead the ceremony, or simply help you shape the words to speak yourselves, I’ll meet you with empathy and care.

Inspired by the bond I shared with my own pets, I know how important it is to have a space to remember, especially when others may not always understand the depth of that grief.
Pet weddings and celebrations
And sometimes… it’s about joy.

If you’re planning a fun and symbolic pet wedding (yes, even if it’s a little tongue-in-cheek, this isn’t just for the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills!), or want to mark a milestone in your pet’s life such as an adoption anniversary, a birthday, or their arrival into your family, I can help bring that moment to life with words that are both playful and sincere.

Pet ceremonies can include:
-
A garden or home-based service
-
Fun rituals (ring swapping, toy sharing, cake sniffing…)
-
“Paw-rent” vows and guest readings
-
Beautiful photographs and memories to keep
You bring the pets, I’ll bring the words and heart.
A pet ceremony service includes
-
A friendly planning chat to understand what you’d like
-
A fully bespoke script, whether for farewell or celebration
-
Suggestions for readings, music or creative rituals
-
Leading the ceremony or giving you the tools to do so yourself
-
Optional printed keepsake script
