Wedding and Vow renewals

Your wedding ceremony should feel like you.

Whether you're celebrating in a Cornish garden, on a Dorset clifftop, or in a cosy family barn, your love deserves a ceremony that’s personal, joyful, and real.

At Smartly Said, I create bespoke, modern ceremonies that reflect your relationship, your values, and your story, whether it’s your first “I do” or a vow renewal many years on.

Every word is written for you, about you, with warmth, care, and just the right amount of sparkle. Nothing scripted, nothing forced. Just honest words, thoughtful touches, and a ceremony you’ll remember for all the right reasons.

I work with couples across Dorset and the surrounding areas, including Bournemouth, Poole and Dorchester, creating celebrant-led wedding ceremonies that are personal, relaxed and completely bespoke.

Why choose a celebrant?

If you're dreaming of a ceremony that makes you laugh, cry, and feel completely seen not just tick a box a celebrant is the right choice.

My celebrant-led ceremonies offer

  • Complete freedom – no legal restrictions, no set scripts

  • Your voice, your way – spiritual, secular, or somewhere in-between

  • A ceremony that reflects your relationship – from day one or day one hundred

Whether you're marrying for the first time, renewing vows after a decade of love, or celebrating a union that the law once failed to recognise, your ceremony can be crafted entirely around you.

A ceremony that’s truly you

Every couple is different. Every love story is unique.

That’s why I take the time to really get to know you, how you met, what makes you laugh, what you’ve been through, and what brings you to this moment.

Then I create a ceremony that fits. It might be:

  • Light and playful

  • Romantic and moving

  • Full of family, humour, pets, or poetry

  • Or something beautifully simple

You can write your own vows, borrow inspiration, or let me help guide you through it all. There’s no pressure, just support, good ideas, and a calm hand on the day.

My own wedding took place on Bournemouth beach, between lockdowns small, personal, and completely us. That experience shaped how I now work with couples: I believe the best ceremonies don’t come from tradition, they come from truth.

And yes, I work with all couples.

As a gay man, I bring lived experience and sensitivity to LGBTQ+ ceremonies, but more than anything, I bring creativity, humour, and heart to every couple I work with two brides, two grooms, or anyone else in love and ready to celebrate it.

What about vow renewals?

Love deserves to be celebrated, not just once, but often.

Vow renewals are for

  • Celebrating a milestone anniversary

  • Reconnecting after a difficult chapter

  • Marking a fresh start or second wedding

  • Or simply saying “I still do” in a way that feels more you than your original wedding ever could

Whether it’s just the two of you by the sea, or a full gathering of loved ones, I’ll create a ceremony that honours where you’ve been and everything still to come.

You don’t need a reason. Just love and a desire to honour it.

My wedding and vow renewal ceremony services include:

  • A relaxed initial 'fit check' planning meeting (in person or online) to see if we're a good team.

  • A personalised couple interview session to shape your story

  • A fully bespoke script written just for you

  • Help with vows, readings, rituals and ideas

  • Delivery of the ceremony on the day (with warmth and a smile)

  • A printed keepsake copy of your ceremony script

Please remember: Celebrant ceremonies are not legally binding in England and Wales. Most couples complete a short legal ceremony at a registry office before or after their celebrant-led wedding or civil partnership.

Celebrant-led wedding ceremonies across Dorset and the South West.

A celebrant-led wedding ceremony allows you to create a day that reflects your story, your values, and the way you want to celebrate your commitment.

In England and Wales, couples complete the legal registration separately at their local register office, usually as a short and simple appointment that takes under twenty minutes and can be done anytime before or after the celebrant led celebration.

This leaves the celebrant-led ceremony free to take place anywhere you choose and to be shaped entirely around you, your words, your people, and the moments that matter most.
